Samsung is Rumored to Have a 2GHz Dual-Core Phone in the Works

A recent rumor revolves around the new smart phone that Samsung is said to be currently working on. The said smart phone is supposed to be equipped with a 2GHz dual-core processor. If that’s true, then the device would be expected to outrank all other mobile phones currently in the market as processors are concerned.
Korean site Daum.net, through Phandroid reports that this new processor is said to be a system-on-a-chip, which is supposedly to be promoted under the company’s Exynos brand, otherwise normally intended for tablet PCs and Net books.
Daum’s report includes a statement from a high-ranking Samsung official, who says that the 2GHz CPU device will be out next year, and that it would have the same data processing capacity as that of a typical PC.
The possibility of this happening is backed up by the fact that companies like HTC have debuted 1.6GHz processors before, making a 2GHz counterpart just around the corner. But considering how even the top laptops only run on less than 2GHz quad-core processors, it leaves us to wonder how much power a smart phone will ever really need.
